Strategies for Developing and Maintaining Ethical Practices: Competence in the Delivery of Clinical Services
Ethics is a complex concept used to address different facets of appropriate professional conduct. Ethics as a discipline defines what is good and bad, incorporating moral duty and obligation, and provides standards of conduct that protect clients, service providers, and agencies. For substance use, addictive behavior, and mental health providers, a robust understanding of ethics is important for maintaining healthy boundaries with clients, ourselves, and other professionals as we work through some of life’s more challenging concerns. This highly interactive workshop will assist participants in keeping their practices up to date by looking at how laws, technology, and our understanding of people and the therapeutic relationship continue to evolve - using multiple case studies.

Dr. Johnson has degrees in biology, counseling and counselor education and supervision. She has been a counselor for 30 years, consultant for 20 years, clinical supervisor for 15 years and higher learning educator for 10 years.
