Managing in uncertain times requires shifting from fixed plans to adaptive planning. To build resilience, communicate transparently, prioritize core goals, and actively manage stress. Cultivating this flexibility prevents paralysis and turns ambiguity into an advantage.

1. The Psychology of Uncertainty

    • Brain Response: Understand that the brain perceives uncertainty as a threat, triggering anxiety or self-sabotage.
    • Self-Regulation: Equip yourself with self-regulation techniques to maintain composure and reduce panic.

2. Radical Communication & Connection

    • Information Vacuums: Understand the importance of transparent communication. Share what is known, what is being monitored, and what is still being figured out to alleviate speculation.
    • Active Listening: Create a safe space for clients to voice their concerns and ideas, fostering a culture of mutual support.

3. Focus on "Circles of Control"

    • Circle of Control vs. Concern: Ask your clients to map out what they can control (e.g., daily routines, communication) versus what they cannot control (e.g., prices, relationships) to channel energy into productive action.
    • Goal-Oriented Action: Setting small, achievable milestones brings a sense of accomplishment and stability.

4. Scenario Planning and Flexibility

    • Adaptive Communication: Move away from inflexible, singular plans. Instead, try to prepare for best-case and worst-case scenarios.
    • Resource Prioritization: Identify your most critical goal and reallocate resources to it.

The goals of this workshop are to:

    • Define and understand types of uncertainty
    • Learn about human reactions to uncertain
    • Understand how to address uncertainty on both a micro and macro level
    • Be able to manage your own feelings of uncertainty
